NEW “INNOVATION CENTER IN SINGLE-MOLECULE DIGITAL ASSAY” LAUNCHED

The Apulia Regional Council, by resolution No. 218 of 02/21/2022, approved the
signing of an Agreement between the Apulia Region, the University of Bari and the University of Studies of Brescia for collaboration aimed at the creation of a “Center of Innovation in Single-Molecule Digital Assay.”

A collaboration agreement between the Apulia Region, the University of Bari and the University of Brescia to the creation of the first Innovation Center in single-molecule digital assay, for the study and experimentation of new advanced single-molecule detection technologies for early medicine, capable of revolutionizing medical diagnostics.

A course of study and research is being launched in Puglia that aims to diagnose a vast number of diseases, both human and plant, through the analysis of samples such as saliva in order to identify single molecules. The main goal is to enable doctors to intervene early against diseases, even before symptoms appear. Diseases that could be monitored and detected early include cancers, cardiovascular and neurodegenerative diseases, as well as viral and bacterial infections.
